In the spotlight

Fundacion Autismo Aruba has launched a new site recently to inform the local community of people dealing with autism: family members, health care specialists, and anyone else interested in autism.

The site of FAA was built using a CMS, so that FAA can add articles and accept comments. As an addition forum software was installed. With this forum the community can get involved and get answers to their questions quickly, helping each other with sometimes difficult situations.

Web Security Guide

The intention of a hacker (or better: cracker) usually didn't use to be financial gain, but the world is changing fast. Identity theft and spamming are becoming more lucrative for criminals online. In the mild cases the hacker just wants access to your system to show that the security system can be broken. In worse cases the hacker is malicious and deletes data, or steals your information. For the latter important data like client records can be compromised. Therefor it is always advised to purchase a secure digital certificate.

Did you know?

Hosting plans offered by CaribMedia

CaribMedia will be glad to help you with the best managed hosting plan for your money. Here are some of your options, in layman's terms

  • Shared hosting - a server is shared among several other clients, making this is a more cost effective solution. However, if another site is receiving a lot of traffic, it could slow down your site.
  • Virtual Private Servers - more space and resources, and more privileges to install software for you. If another client's website goes down, yours keeps running.
  • Dedicated hardware with limited sharing - dedicated hardware is shared among a maximum of up to 5 clients, with tight control on resource usage, high performance, security and resources.
  • 100% Dedicated - hardware dedicated to only one client, total freedom to install any software, top performance and security. No other client's system can affect your system's performance.

Why managed hosting? CaribMedia's hosting plans are managed hosting plans meaning to say you never have to worry about your server's configuration, setting things up, making backups, configuring email, anti-spam software, server updates etc., it is all done for you as part of your plan. Managed hosting differs from unmanaged hosting in that with unmanaged hosting you simply get a username and a password and are expected to login and do everything else yourself, upload your website, configure it, manage email settings, spam, manage backups, updates etc. Several companies both locally and abroad offer unmanaged hosting at lower rates than managed hosting, clearly because no effort other than minimal technical support is required (e.g. in case of hardware failure). CaribMedia also offers unmanaged hosting if specifically requested, but that is very rarely the case since it is recommended for persons with specific knowledge about servers, websites, software etc. Clients in general want peace of mind, they want their website to work well, and want to get on with their core business. Meet our team

Hi, my name is Otmar Manuela and I have been working at Caribmedia for 5 years.

How did I arrive here?  After graduating from Colegio Arubano, I went to study in Melbourne, Florida (no, not Australia) where I earned my Masters Degree in Engineering Management with a focus in Software Engineering.  I came back to Aruba in 2002 and started working as a programmer/troubleshooter of burglar/fire alarm systems and surveillance systems.  When I saw an opportunity in web development, I decided to go for it and here I am.
